Pray and Help for Japan

Help and Pray for Japan

As you know, March 11th 2011; tragedy struck Japan with an earthquake and tsunami that devastated the nation. While many will sit back and watch from afar, I felt this was something I couldn't simply do. After experiencing a devastating event myself (Hurricane Katrina) and losing everything I had and so much more, it changed me forever, and seeded many memories of events that will never leave me.

I decided to be part of something that could help others who have experienced this kind of tragic nightmare and make a difference in a meaningful way. Together with the aid of my friend Carey McGregor of Feebie's Pizza http://www.feebiespizza.com/, Carey organized a fundraising event locally at Yuan Ze university in Taiwan to help the cause and I worked together with Carey to create poster and fliers for the event. I have also designed a T shirt which is for sale internationally which the proceeds of will go to a well established charity organization The Tzu Chi Foundation which you can visit their website here www.tw.tzuchi.org/en/. With your help, I hope we can raise as much money to help the victims of this tragedy as possible and make a meaningful difference in the lives affected by these past events. People like Vincent Chen of UniCasual

Purchase a shirt today a make a real difference; feel great wearing something and knowing you made a difference. Your name will be added to the supporters list of this blog, as well as the the order number so you can view who has contributed as well as how many contributors.

If you would like the proceeds to be put towards a different organization (i.e. Red Cross) I will happily do so, as well as put the name of the organization your proceeds went towards behind your name on the list of contributors; the Tzu Chi Foundation will be the default charity organization .
I will update the list of supporters bi monthly.

At the bottom of the page is the shirt design; The people of all sizes, shapes, and attire can be seen holding hands together, uniting to be strong and unified for the cause; all standing around the red circle representing the Japanese sun, and within the sun are the waves of the Tsunami that devastated Japan.

For local orders in Taiwan, cash or money orders are accepted.
500nt per shirt, any size.

For international orders, PayPal or money orders are accepted.
20 USD (or international currency equivalent) any size (up to 5XL)

To order your shirt, simply contact me at thewiglyworm@gmail.com with your desired size, address and information for payment.

Thank you all so much for all of your support, please spread the word and let us make this a long supporters list and raise the bar high for helping Japan !!

End of the Schoolyear Dinner! Time to eat!

Some of the funniest students I've known (nicknames) President Lincon (front) and Amigo Contigo (back)

Two of some of the smartest students I've know eating a well deserved meal ! Dexter (left) and Thomas (right).

Benedict a.k.a. "Crazy" ,he makes me laugh.

All Jimmy J. knows, is that he wants to eat, and he is not concerned with a photo!

Jack (left) has some of the greatest potential I have seen in any student I've taught! I really hope he makes it big at whatever he does when he is older :D

It was a great year for all the students; as you can see they enjoyed their steaks and had a good time. Until next year, we will see what they do !

What your contributions are doing. December 8, 2010

After learning how coffee is made and the different kinds of coffee /coffee beans that are made, student are ready to make a trip to the coffee house and use their what they have learned to make an order in English!                                                                                                                                                                 Much to our amusment, the stuendts never used any of their Chinese while in the coffee shop and we observed that the employees were very confused by this and continued to ask them (the students) to please speak Chinese, no way! :D

"Yay, we get to use our English and not in the classroom !"

Benedict (nicknamed 'Crazy) Is excited after ordering his drink!

Other students line up to place an order. Using your second language in the real world outside to the classroom can be difficult and a nervous experience, but it allows them to get their feet wet.

Dec 1, 2010 WiglyWorm Studios creative workshop class:

Today the children learn how to make a T-shirt from stencil design!

The first 12 photos are of the final parts of the process to creating a T-shirt design from stencil. The design to be put on the shirt was part of a class learning activity and the winning design (the winning design was chosen as a whole by the class room out of the three individual designs teams of students)

The children of the class get to have their hand in the production of a stencil design on to a T-Shirt. There are many steps in the process and the students all have a chance to be involved in each step of the process!

(To the right and below)
Three teams compete to produce a winning design to be finalized onto a stencil design!

(Right side bellow)

Students learn about the process of deciding which design should be the winning one ! It's a great opportunity to teach students the skills of open communication and decision making involving group discussion.
